There was a time when, if you wanted to take a note, you had to take out a piece of paper and a pen, and write the note down on that piece of paper. This applied to keeping journals as well. Basically, this is a virtual journal on your computer that allows adding images and other data to text based entries.

The installation process of Alpha Journal Pro can be completed by most users in the shortest time possible, with only a few clicks. The program can be installed on any Windows version, ranging from XP to Windows 7. It takes up about 4 MB of hard disk space and doesn't require more than average system resources.

When run for the first time, Alpha Journal Pro asks the user to enter his name and password, for creating a new journal database. After having completed this step, the user can simply click on one of the days displayed on the built-in calendar in the interface, for writing notes. Besides text, the program allows adding various media elements into the journal, like images, video clips and so on, making it more interactive.

The text toolbar resembles the one of typical text editors and, as such, users can quickly become familiar with text functions. After having written the desired notes, the program can export them all or only some of them to regular text files, for reading them anytime, anywhere. Besides that, Alpha Journal Pro offers an option for synchronizing journal entries with Pocket PCs or other similar programs, like Microsoft Outlook.

Pros:
It can protect the user's journal with a password, to prevent unauthorized access. Besides that, it allows easy adding of notes thanks to the built-in calendar. Furthermore, journal entries can be saved as regular text files.

Cons:
The number of text tools and their complexity is a bit limited and advanced users may not appreciate this.
